More advertisements followed by 100 pages from the AWA Radio Guides of 1926 and 1928 including articles on 'choice of receiver', 'crystal Receivers', 'installing your set', 'Aerial and Earth installations', 'loud-speakers', 'batteries' etc. Information about AWA receivers of the time plus a complete catalogue of parts and circuits - all very interesting. |

From here we go on to the 1928 Radio Exhibition, Wireless Progress in Australia a 30 page AWA book documenting its activities over the previous 10 years, this included:- AWA Radiophone Service, BEAM Wireless Service, Coastal Radio Services, AWA Radio Centre SYDNEY/MELBOURNE, Transmission of pictures, Sydney Town Hall lit from Genoa, Automatic distress transmitter and AWA Radio-electric works.
On to the 30's with lots more advertisements, 'The Walking Broadcaster' an article about the first outside broadcast of the opening of the Sydney Harbour Bridge via a portable transmitter with an antenna the size of a kite!

more advertisements and the 1933 radio exhibition, an article titled 'MOULDING MATERIALS' plastics for many purposes (including how Bakelite is produced) from 1936. A complete list of radio sets manufactured during 1936 including price, valve used etc. plus many pictures followed by more advertisements from the late 30's and 40's.
Finally an index listing all the brand names advertised and page number and a complete list of AWA receivers from 1925 - 1938.

“As it happened”
PREFACE
For the past five years I have been the editor of
the newsletter/magazine of the local group of the
Historical Radio Society of Australia, and in that
time I have come across many interesting
magazines, catalogues and articles relating to the
history of radio and broadcasting in Australia.
This book is an attempt to put together some of
this information. In order to present the history
”as it happened” all the material is copied from it’s
original source apart from a few things for which I
either, do not have the original or the original was
in too poor a condition to use.
